Kerri & Family – Beach Photoshoot

I really enjoyed doing this photoshoot with Kerri, her family, her brother and his family, and the grandparents for a few of reasons – it was just after Christmas (yay!), Kerri and all of her family were great to work with, and because my son was able to assist mo on the shoot as he was visiting Cayman for a few days.

We were quite lucky with the weather (which was a little unsettled over Christmas) and although the beach was very busy, we managed to get some nice shots of a gorgeous sunset on a quiet bit of beach just outside the Governor’s House.  Sunset here at the moment is around 6.00pm so we made sure that we were finished just in time for Happy Hour!

For those who may be interested in the kit that I use, I changed things up for this shoot and to my surprise used my 50mm f1.8 for almost every shot – I love this vastly under-rated lens and will make sure that it’s in the bag for my next shoot.  I usually work with the 70-200 f2.8 (which is incredible, but heavy on long shoots), the 85mm f1.4, and the 17-35mm f2.8.  The compression and sharpness of the 70-200 is great and on the beach it is often my most used lens.  All my gear is Nikon, but I will be making the gradual switch to mirrorless in the next couple of months …. exciting times !
